Job description

Experienced Teaching Assistant A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Ealing is seeking an experienced and dedicated Experienced Teaching Assistant to join its student support team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established school with a strong reputation for pastoral care and inclusive education. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to support students in the classroom, helping them overcome barriers to learning and make meaningful academic progress. You will be supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). The role will involve providing classroom support, alongside targeted one-to-one and small group interventions, helping students develop confidence and achieve their potential. The successful Experienced Teaching Assistant will need to demonstrate strong SEN experience and the ability to provide consistent, effective support within a structured learning environment in Ealing. Candidates with previous experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, communication needs, or challenging behaviour may be considered for a higher rate of pay. Responsibilities • Support students during lessons to help them access the curriculum effectively. • Deliver targeted support to individuals and small groups to reinforce learning. • Work closely with students with SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and MLD. • Assist teaching staff with classroom organisation, learning resources, and student support strategies. • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Requirements • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school setting is essential. • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Patient, adaptable, and proactive approach when supporting young people. • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff.
