Job description

Transport Planner – Haulage Location: Swadlincote Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm Pay: £12.71 per hour Job Type: Temp to Perm We are recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a busy and established haulage operation based in Swadlincote. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transport or logistics experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating vehicle movements to ensure customer deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. Key Responsibilities • Plan and schedule daily routes for a fleet of HGV vehicles. • Allocate work to drivers while ensuring maximum vehicle utilisation. • Monitor vehicle movements and proactively manage delays or changes. • Liaise with drivers, customers, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations. • Ensure compliance with driver hours, tachograph regulations, and company procedures. • Respond to customer queries and provide transport updates. • Maintain accurate transport records and update transport management systems. • Support the transport team with day-to-day operational requirements. What We're Looking For • Previous experience in a transport planning or haulage environment is preferred. • Good understanding of UK road networks and transport operations. • Knowledge of driver hours and transport legislation is desirable. • Excellent communication and organisational skills. • Confident using Microsoft Office and transport management systems. • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. • A proactive, reliable, and team-oriented approach.
