Warehouse Operative (Afternoons)Location: Poynton Job Type: Temp to Perm Pay Rate: £14.12 - £15.21 per hour Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm - 10:00pm About the RoleWe are recruiting on behalf of a well-established industrial and distribution business for an experienced Warehouse Operative to join their afternoon shift team in Poynton. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity offering stable hours, competitive pay, and long-term career prospects within a fast-paced warehouse environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the safe handling, storage, and movement of materials, ensuring customer orders are prepared accurately and dispatched on time. Key Responsibilities • Safely operate overhead gantry cranes using radio remote and pendant controls (training provided where applicable). • Load and unload materials from incoming and outgoing vehicles in line with site safety procedures. • Store and retrieve stock from designated warehouse locations. • Carry out and record pre-use checks on equipment, machinery, lifting equipment, and vehicles. • Operate mobile plant equipment, including forklifts, side loaders, and other material handling vehicles where authorised and trained. • Support stock control activities and assist with regular inventory checks. • Accurately update picking documentation and order records when changes occur. • Assist with the organisation and planning of incoming stock deliveries to maximise storage capacity. • Prioritise customer orders and dispatch requirements to support operational efficiency. • Conduct load checks and quality checks prior to dispatch to ensure accuracy. • Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with all health and safety procedures. • Support colleagues and work collaboratively as part of the warehouse team. Candidate Requirements • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environment. • Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment is advantageous. • Strong understanding of health and safety practices. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling stock and completing paperwork. • Reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high operational standards. • Flexibility to undertake additional warehouse duties as required.
