Warehouse Operative
Location: Thame
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch break)
Salary: £28k - £30k
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative to join our busy warehouse team. Due to the location of the site, a full UK driving licence and access to your own transport is essential.
This is a hands-on and varied role within a team of 7 warehouse professionals. The successful candidate will be flexible in their duties, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to support all areas of the warehouse operation as required.
A Counterbalance Forklift Licence would be beneficial but is not essential as training may be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
• Picking and packing customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Using handheld scanners and warehouse management systems to process stock movements.
• Checking incoming and outgoing orders against delivery notes and purchase orders.
• Receiving, unloading and storing deliveries.
• Conducting quality checks on products and reporting any discrepancies or damages.
• Preparing orders for dispatch and ensuring they are packaged to company standards.
• Labelling, wrapping and palletising stock for shipment.
• Loading and unloading vehicles safely.
• Maintaining accurate stock records and assisting with stock counts.
• Supporting regular inventory checks and stock reconciliation activities.
• Ensuring warehouse areas are kept clean, organised and safe at all times.
• Following all health and safety procedures and company policies.
• Assisting with goods-in, goods-out and returns processes.
• Operating warehouse equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Working closely with colleagues to achieve daily operational targets.
• Supporting other departments where required.
• Carrying out general warehouse housekeeping duties.
• Being flexible and willing to undertake additional tasks as business needs require.
Skills & Experience Required
• Previous warehouse experience preferred but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport due to location.
• Experience using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive, can-do attitude with a strong work ethic.
• Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling tasks.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
Desirable
• Counterbalance Forklift Licence (beneficial but not essential).
• Previous experience in picking, packing or goods-in/goods-out operations.
• Experience working within a logistics, distribution or warehouse environment.
