Behaviour and SEN Teaching Assistant - Wakefield Inspire Partnership Multi-Academy Trust (IPMAT) Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Contract: Day to Day, Long Term, Short Term, Temp to Perm / Term-time only (various hours available) Salary: Start Date: September 2026 About the Role Inspire Partnership Multi-Academy Trust (IPMAT) is seeking enthusiastic, caring and resilient Behaviour and SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team across our family of primary schools. You will support pupils who may have special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and behavioural or learning barriers. Your role will be to help pupils access learning, develop positive behaviour strategies, and build confidence and independence within a supportive school environment. Key Responsibilities • Supporting pupils in the classroom and in small groups • Assisting with learning activities under the direction of the class teacher • Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional and social development • Helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs) • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff Person Specification We are looking for candidates who: • Have experience working with children or young people (school experience preferred) • Understand, or are willing to develop understanding of, SEN and behaviour support • Are calm, patient and consistent in their approach • Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff • Work effectively as part of a team • Have a committed and professional attitude Our IPMAT Primary Schools (Wakefield Trust) You may be based in one or more of the following schools: • Ackton Pastures Primary Academy • Ash Grove Primary Academy • Fitzwilliam Primary School • Gawthorpe Community Academy • Girnhill Infant School • Grove Lea Primary School • Half Acres Primary Academy • South Hiendley Primary School • Towngate Primary Academy These schools form a collaborative group of nine primary academies across the Wakefield area, working together to improve outcomes for children.
