Building Surveyor Location: Northern England Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive + Vehicle/Allowance + Benefits The Opportunity My client is a well-established and growing construction and property services business specialising in property maintenance, insurance reinstatement, and minor works projects across Northern England and Southern Scotland. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join their Insurance and Minor Works division. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of domestic and commercial projects, managing insurance reinstatement works and small-to-medium value construction projects from initial survey through to completion. The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for surveying, pricing, managing, and delivering property repair and reinstatement projects, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with insurers, loss adjusters, clients, subcontractors, and operational teams, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of projects across the region. Key Responsibilities • Undertake site inspections and building surveys across Northern England and occasionally Southern Scotland. • Produce schedules of work, specifications, quotations, and cost estimates. • Prepare valuations and project cost plans. • Manage project budgets and monitor costs throughout project delivery. • Liaise with clients, insurers, loss adjusters, and other stakeholders to agree project scopes and variations. • Monitor project progress and ensure works are delivered to programme. • Provide technical guidance and support to operational teams. • Manage subcontractor quotations, appointments, and performance. • Support the achievement of KPIs and service-level agreements. • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, company procedures, and industry best practice. • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, customer service, and commercial performance. About You The ideal candidate will be commercially aware, highly organised, and capable of managing multiple projects within a fast-paced environment. Essential Requirements • Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or Construction Manager. • Strong knowledge of building construction, repair techniques, and contract administration. • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. • Excellent commercial awareness and cost-control skills. • Strong communication and client-facing abilities. • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships. • Strong organisational and time-management skills. • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and surveying/estimating software. • Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable Requirements • Experience within insurance reinstatement and claims-related repairs. • Experience working alongside insurers and loss adjusters. • Knowledge of domestic and commercial building repairs. • Relevant qualification in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management. • Membership of a professional body such as RICS, CIOB, or equivalent.
