Family Care Solicitor | 2+ PQE | Devon | Hybrid Working Available | Competitive Salary & Excellent Benefits A highly regarded and ambitious regional law firm is seeking a Family Care Solicitor to join its growing specialist Child Care team in Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with experience in public law children work to become part of a supportive and well-established team that is recognised for delivering exceptional client care. The Opportunity You will join a specialist Family Care team representing: • Parents, children, grandparents, and wider family members • Clients involved in care proceedings and social services matters • Individuals attending PLO and pre-proceedings meetings • Family members seeking Special Guardianship Orders The team supports clients through some of the most challenging periods of their lives, combining technical expertise with empathy, clarity, and strong advocacy. Key Responsibilities • Managing your own caseload of public law children matters • Advising clients throughout care proceedings • Representing clients at PLO meetings and court hearings • Conducting advocacy where appropriate • Advising on Special Guardianship Orders and related applications • Providing clear, practical legal advice to vulnerable clients • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Family team • Supporting business development and networking initiatives About You Applications are welcomed from Solicitors or Chartered Legal Executives with approximately 2+ years' PQE, although applications from candidates outside this level will also be considered. You will ideally have: • Experience handling public law children matters • Strong advocacy skills and confidence representing clients in court • Excellent client care and communication skills • The ability to explain complex legal matters in plain English • Strong organisational and case management abilities • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable clients • A collaborative and team-focused approach Experience with Legal Aid matters and membership of the Law Society Children's Panel would be advantageous but is not essential.
