Clinical Teaching Fellow in Palliative Care and Oncology

The successful candidate will be based with the palliative care team for 50% and Oncology for 50% of their time and have named educational supervisor from the palliative care team for this part of the post. The successful candidate will play an important role in the development and delivery of clinical teaching to medical students on the St Georges University MBBS programmes. As well as end of life care and symptom management the focus of teaching would also include managing uncertainty, co-morbidities, polypharmacy, advance care planning and communication. The palliative medicine teaching week runs 8 times per year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the teaching components which consists of lectures, a patient perspective session run with colleagues at the local hospice and case based work shops. The successful candidate will also deliver palliative care clinical teaching for students on ward based placements to help blend holistic palliative care principles with other parts of their clinical experience mirroring real world practice. The post holder will be expected to liaise with similar post holders through the CTF network and identify deficiencies and opportunities for clinical teaching across the Trust.
