Job description

Are you a Registered Nurse with IV therapy experience looking for a role that offers autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference? We're looking for a Clinical IV Nurse to provide specialist care, education, and ongoing support to patients receiving Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) in their own homes. This rewarding community-based role enables you to build lasting therapeutic relationships while empowering patients to manage complex nutritional therapy safely and confidently. Working independently while supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. The RoleAs a Clinical IV Nurse, you will support patients from the initiation of TPN therapy through to long-term management, providing clinical care, structured education, and regular follow-up visits in the community. Working alongside dietitians, pharmacists, nutrition support teams and other healthcare professionals, you will ensure patients receive safe, effective, and personalised care while promoting independence and confidence in managing their treatment. You will manage your own caseload and contribute to service development through audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance. Key Responsibilities • Deliver specialist nursing care in line with Service Operating Procedures. • Initiate and support patients receiving Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) at home. • Deliver patient, family, and carer education to promote safe self-management. • Conduct home and community visits for assessment, therapy initiation, and follow-up. • Support patients to achieve independence and maintain adherence to treatment. • Maintain accurate clinical records using digital systems. • Ensure clinical equipment is maintained and used safely. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless patient care. • Identify and escalate clinical concerns and adverse events appropriately. • Adhere to safeguarding, governance, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements. • Maintain professional registration and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). About YouEssential • Registered Nurse (NMC or NMBI). • Minimum one year's post-registration experience. • Experience with IV therapies or vascular access. • Full UK or Irish driving licence. • Excellent communication and organisational skills. • Ability to work autonomously and manage a community caseload. • Confident using digital clinical systems. • Eligible for an Enhanced DBS check (or equivalent) and occupational health clearance. Desirable • Experience in nutrition support, gastroenterology, oncology, intestinal failure, or homecare. • Experience supporting patients receiving Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) or other complex infusion therapies.
