Deputy Manager - Children’s Residential Home Location: South London Salary: £36,000 - £45,000 Some jobs are about targets and spreadsheets. This one is about young people who need stability, guidance and adults who genuinely show up for them. We are recruiting for a Deputy Manager to join a Children’s Residential Home in South London supporting young people with complex needs and challenging backgrounds. This is a hands-on leadership role for somebody who can lead from the front, support a staff team under pressure and help create a home where children feel safe, supported and understood. This role would suit an experienced Deputy Manager or a Team Leader/strong Senior Support Worker who is ready to step into leadership. The Role You will work closely with the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, helping to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance whilst building a positive and stable environment for both staff and young people. You will be the kind of person who is calm during difficult shifts, confident supporting staff, able to manage safeguarding concerns appropriately and understands that consistency changes lives in residential childcare. Duties will include: • Supporting the Registered Manager in the overall operation of the home • Leading shifts and deputising in the Manager’s absence • Supporting, mentoring and supervising staff teams • Promoting safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people • Ensuring care is delivered in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards • Supporting staff performance, training and development • Helping manage rotas and staffing levels • Building positive relationships with families and professionals • Maintaining accurate records and compliance standards About You We are looking for somebody who genuinely understands Children’s Residential Care and can balance leadership with compassion. Experience with EBD or LD would be an advantage. You will have: • Experience within a Children’s Residential Home • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader or Senior Support Worker • Strong safeguarding knowledge • Experience supporting or supervising staff • Understanding of Ofsted expectations and Children’s Homes Regulations • Resilience, emotional intelligence and a calm approach under pressure • Excellent communication and organisational skills Qualifications • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential) • Level 5 Leadership & Management or willingness to work towards it (desirable) What’s On Offer?
