Job description

Dispensing • Prepare and dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with practice procedures and legal requirements. • Process repeat prescriptions efficiently and safely. • Ensure prescriptions are labelled correctly and checked before issue. • Refer dispensing queries to the Dispensary Lead, pharmacist or GP when necessary. • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Patient Services • Assist patients with medication collection and dispensary enquiries. • Provide a courteous, professional and helpful service. • Manage patient expectations regarding prescription turnaround times. • Liaise with patients regarding stock availability and collection arrangements. Stock Management • Receive and unpack medication deliveries. • Maintain appropriate stock levels as directed by the Dispensary Lead. • Rotate stock and carry out expiry date checks. • Report stock shortages and discrepancies promptly. • Ensure dispensary shelves are tidy and organised. Controlled Drugs • Support the management of controlled drugs in accordance with practice procedures. • Assist with controlled drug stock checks when required. • Maintain security of medicines and report any discrepancies immediately. Administration • File prescriptions and maintain dispensing records. • Process dispensing patient registration forms as directed. • Assist with claims, audits and stock reconciliations. • Support end-of-month stock counts and dispensary administration.
