The Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) Clinical Nurse Specialist will act as a key worker for women referred with suspected gynaecological cancer, providing expert clinical support, coordination, and navigation throughout the 28-Day Faster Diagnosis Standard pathway. The post holder will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including gynaecology consultants, Gynaecology cancer CNS, diagnostics, radiology, pathology, booking teams to ensure timely assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and communication of outcomes. The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients and their families from referral through to diagnosis, ensuring a compassionate, person-centred approach that reduces anxiety and promotes informed decision-making. They will proactively track and manage patients on the suspected cancer pathway, identifying and escalating delays, coordinating investigations, and supporting compliance with national cancer waiting time standards. Working autonomously and as an integral member of the gynaecology multidisciplinary team, the FDS Nurse will contribute to service development, pathway redesign, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and performance monitoring to improve patient experience and achieve national cancer targets.
