Key Responsibilities
• Reducing Health Inequalities, Enhancing Engagement and Partnership Working.
• Identify and address inequalities in access to optometry services with an initial focus on Easy Eyecare Pathway across Greater Manchester using population health data, local intelligence, and stakeholder feedback.
• Support the development and delivery of targeted approaches to improve equity of access for priority populations.
• Increase engagement with optical practices to encourage participation in initiatives aimed at improving coverage and reducing inequalities.
• Strengthen collaboration with GP practices to improve awareness, referral pathways, and uptake of the Easy Eyecare Service.
• Act as a key point of contact between optometry, primary care, and wider system partners on health inequalities work.
Easy Eyecare Service
• Lead and support activities to increase awareness, understanding, and uptake of the Easy Eyecare Service among professionals and communities.
• Identify barriers to uptake and collaborate with stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
Programme and Project Delivery
• Undertake and support projects as specified by the Optometry Provider Board and/or Optometry Excellence Programme, within the agreed time commitment.
• Contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of agreed initiatives, providing progress updates and outcomes as required.
Reporting and Governance
• Provide written and/or verbal updates to relevant groups, including the Optometry Provider Board.
• Ensure all work aligns with Greater Manchester priorities, policies, and governance arrangements.
Time Commitment
• 1 session per week (4 hours), with flexibility on how the time is used to best meet agreed objectives.
