Our client, a leading logistics Company based in Kent are looking for a Import / Export Officer with a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role and a desire to join a fast paced, dynamic environment where the focus is getting the job done right!
The successful candidate will be handling imports and exports by sea, road and air between UK and Asia, Europe and Americas.
Starting salary of £26,000 - £28,000 depending on experience with hybrid working options.
Import / Export, Customs Declaration Officer duties to include:-
• Manage international cargo shipments from quotation through to final delivery.
• Provide quotations, negotiate with carriers, hauliers and suppliers.
• Receive and check customer bookings.
• Create job files.
• Liaise with all involved parties: agents, suppliers, clients, shipping lines, carriers, co-loaders, warehouses and hauliers. Ensure consignments are progressed as required, keeping customers updated.
• Understand the information required to make inbound and outbound clearances.
• Prepare, review, complete and submit customs declarations.
• Keep up to date with regulations, laws and customs procedures.
• Accurately raise all relevant documentation, job-costing, invoicing and closing off job files.
• Deliver an excellent level of customer service.
• Ensure work is completed within required timeframes.

The Import / Export, Customs Declaration Officer will have:-
• A minimum of 2 years import / export experience.
• Good knowledge of ocean/ sea freight, airfreight and road freight import and export procedures, shipping documents, regulations and port operations.
• Freight forwarding experience.
• Ocean and road freight customs clearance experience completing CDS import/export customs declarations through ASM Sequoia.
• Experience with job creatin and costing, ideally using BoxTop.
• Knowledge of customs procedures/ requirements.
• BIFA BTEC in customs procedures (preferred not essential).
• Strong IT experience, with the ability to learn new systems and work on various client portals.
• Flexible, hardworking approach.
• Good problem solving ability.
• Commercial awareness.
• Awareness of bonded warehouse procedures (advantageous but not essential.)
