Interim Head of Legal (Litigation) ---- 6 months + ------ Hybrid/Remote Working -------- £80-£90 per hour Umbrella ---- Midlands Venn Group is working in partnership with a highly regarded Local Authority in the Midlands to recruit an Interim Head of Litigation for an initial 3–6-month assignment. They are ideally looking for full time but part time candidates with the relevant experience are also encouraged to apply. This is a key leadership role, ideally suited to an experienced solicitor or barrister with a strong background in local government litigation and a genuine passion for developing high-performing teams. You will bring proven management experience and the ability to lead, inspire, and deliver in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a confident decision-maker who can prioritise effectively under pressure while maintaining a strategic overview to achieve successful outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Lead and oversee complex litigation matters, including housing, employment, civil litigation, and prosecutions • Provide strategic legal advice and direction to senior stakeholders across the organisation • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal governance frameworks • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and best practice • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, performance, and resource allocation • Act as a senior representative for the Council, building strong relationships with external partners and peers Requirements • Qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE • Demonstrable experience within a Local Authority litigation setting • Strong working knowledge across housing, employment, and civil litigation • Proven leadership and management experience (minimum 12 months) • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior level Please email your CV to or call us on Job Reference: J95533 Venn Group is an equal opportunities employment business and employment agency and welcomes applications from all candidates.
