Job description

Legal and Regulatory Counsel - Financial Services Overview We are seeking an experienced legal and regulatory counsel to join a global financial technology business. You will provide commercially driven legal advice across regulatory matters and commercial contracts, acting as a key partner to the wider organisation including sales, product and senior management. A global mindset and collaborative approach are essential to success in this role. The Role You will report into the Head of Legal & Regulatory based in Stockholm and work closely with colleagues across London, India, New York and Israel. Regulatory Responsibilities • Managing day-to-day regulatory matters across the UK, US, EU and APAC • Advising on the legal and regulatory implications of new products and services • Preparing and submitting licensing applications and regulatory correspondence • Monitoring regulatory developments and driving implementation across the business • Filing notifications and submissions with regulatory authorities within prescribed deadlines • Supporting regulatory audits by coordinating information across internal teams • Drafting responses to regulatory consultations • Maintaining an up-to-date tracker and repository of regulatory advice Contract Responsibilities • Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including client contracts, service agreements, data and licensing contracts, confidentiality agreements, intragroup agreements and information security addendums • Updating contracts to reflect new products, services or emerging risks • Drafting fee letters for bespoke commercial arrangements • Developing and maintaining contract playbooks and sales guidance • Keeping contracts current in response to evolving market practices Qualifications & Experience • Qualified lawyer in the UK and/or US • 3-4 years post-qualification experience in a legal role at a regulated financial services firm such as a bank, brokerage, exchange or trading venue, or as a financial services lawyer at a law firm • Demonstrated experience handling regulatory matters in both the UK and US • Experience drafting and negotiating complex financial services contracts Skills • Commercially minded with a strong service orientation • Able to deliver accurate work quickly within agreed deadlines • Strong judgement in managing risk and stakeholder expectations • Adaptable and able to reprioritise in a fast-moving environment • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Able to work independently and know when to escalate • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
