The Operations Manager RoleAs Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of a busy distribution site, ensuring operations are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with all regulatory requirements. You'll lead a team of drivers and office staff, champion continuous improvement and create a positive, high-performing working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading, motivating and developing drivers and administration teams
• Planning and managing daily delivery schedules to maximise operational efficiency
• Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, HSE regulations and company policies
• Managing cylinder stock, assets and reconciliation processes
• Promoting a strong safety-first culture across the site
• Maintaining site standards and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Supporting staff development through training and performance management
• Identifying opportunities to improve operational performance and customer service
• Acting as the site's emergency keyholder for out-of-hours call-outs when required
Essential Skills & Experience
• CPC in Transport Management (essential)
• Previous experience managing operational or logistics teams
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation, tachograph regulations and Working Time Directive
• Experience within logistics, distribution or a service-led environment
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
• Confident using IT systems
• ADR experience or knowledge of hazardous goods (desirable)
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (preferred)
