Payroll & Accounts Administrator Newton Abbot, Devon Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 Our client, a well-established South West-based accountancy firm currently experiencing a period of significant growth, is seeking an enthusiastic Payroll & Accounts Administrator to join their dynamic team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career within an accountancy practice. It would particularly suit an experienced payroll professional who is keen to broaden their skill set by gaining hands-on accounts experience, while continuing to build their expertise across both payroll and finance in a supportive and growing firm. The responsibilities: • Process and manage high-volume payrolls for a diverse client portfolio on weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payroll cycles. • Administer the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submissions. • Handle payroll-related queries professionally, liaising with clients, HMRC and other third parties where required. • Assist with bookkeeping duties, including processing financial records and supporting accounts preparation. • Support the wider accounts team with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks, gaining exposure to a variety of accounting functions. • Manage your own workload effectively while working collaboratively within the team to meet deadlines and deliver excellent client service. The candidate: • Proven experience processing a high volume of payroll transactions. • Effective and clear communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and HMRC. • Strong understanding of current payroll legislation, including PAYE, SSP, SMP, National Insurance, and pensions. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team, demonstrating accurate data entry skills, adherence to deadlines, and performance under pressure.
