Job description

We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Payroll Administrator / Payroll Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes accurately and efficiently, ensuring employees are paid correctly and all statutory requirements are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working with figures, meeting deadlines, and providing a high level of service to clients and employees. Key Responsibilities: • Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls from start to finish • Setting up new employees and maintaining payroll records • Processing starters, leavers and employee changes • Calculating salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions and deductions • Processing statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP • Preparing and submitting RTI reports to HMRC • Managing PAYE, National Insurance and pension submissions • Completing workplace pension assessments and submissions • Responding to payroll queries from clients and employees • Maintaining accurate payroll documentation and ensuring GDPR compliance • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation changes • Liaising with HMRC and pension providers when required Skills and Experience Required: • Previous payroll experience within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment preferred • Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements • Experience using payroll software preferably Sage Payroll • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to manage multiple payroll deadlines • Excellent organisational and communication skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Desirable: • Payroll qualification (not essential) • Experience managing multiple client payrolls • Knowledge of auto-enrolment pensions • Experience dealing directly with clients
