Job DescriptionJob TitlePractice Manager LocationCaritas Group Practice, Woodside Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire Responsible ToGP Partners Accountable ToGP Partners and Practice Leadership Team Job SummaryThe Practice Manager will provide effective leadership and operational management to ensure the smooth, safe and efficient delivery of services across Caritas Group Practice. Working closely with the GP Partners, clinical leads and wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will play a key role in supporting the strategic direction of the practice, maintaining high standards of patient care and developing services to meet the changing needs of the local population. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to the practice team, ensuring effective workforce management, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. They will be responsible for creating a positive working culture where staff feel valued, supported and empowered to deliver excellent patient care. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership and Practice Development • Work collaboratively with GP Partners and the leadership team to develop and deliver the practice vision, objectives and operational plans. • Identify opportunities for service improvement, innovation and growth. • Support the development of new models of care and collaborative working with the North Halifax Primary Care Network and other healthcare partners. • Lead on implementing change effectively, ensuring staff engagement and successful delivery. • Contribute to practice strategy, business planning and future development. Operational Management • Oversee the day-to-day management of the practice, ensuring services run safely, efficiently and effectively across all sites. • Develop and maintain robust systems and processes to support high-quality patient care. • Monitor practice performance and implement improvements where required. • Ensure appropriate management of premises, equipment, facilities and practice resources. • Work with clinical and administrative teams to optimise workflow and improve patient experience. Leadership and Workforce Management • Provide effective leadership, support and guidance to administrative and non-clinical teams. • Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace culture. • Manage recruitment, induction, training and retention of staff. • Support staff development through regular supervision, appraisals and performance reviews. • Ensure appropriate workforce planning to meet service demands. • Promote effective communication across the whole practice team. Financial Management • Work with GP Partners to ensure effective financial management and sustainability of the practice. • Support preparation and monitoring of budgets, income and expenditure. • Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and value for money. • Oversee financial processes including payroll, purchasing and supplier management. • Ensure appropriate financial controls and reporting systems are maintained. Governance, Quality and Compliance • Ensure the practice maintains compliance with relevant NHS regulations, contractual requirements and professional standards. • Support preparation for inspections, audits and external reviews. • Maintain effective systems for risk management, health and safety, safeguarding and information governance. • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives. • Ensure practice policies and procedures are reviewed, updated and implemented effectively. Patient Experience and Service Improvement • Promote a patient-centred approach across all areas of practice activity. • Monitor patient feedback, complaints and suggestions, ensuring learning and improvement. • Support initiatives that improve access, communication and patient satisfaction. • Work collaboratively with patient groups and stakeholders where appropriate. Information Technology and Data Management • Support effective use of clinical and administrative systems. • Promote digital innovation and improvements in practice processes. • Ensure compliance with information governance requirements, confidentiality and data protection legislation. • Monitor performance data and support reporting requirements. Partnership and External Working • Develop strong working relationships with GP Partners, PCN colleagues, NHS organisations and external stakeholders. • Represent the practice professionally at meetings and forums where required. • Support collaborative working opportunities that benefit patients and staff.
