Job description

Product Designer About People’s Partnership: At the heart of our not-for-profit organisation is a commitment and a motivation to make the future-saving experience a simple one for our members. We champion fairness and simplicity, not profit-chasing. Imagine a financial adventure where everyone's a winner, fuelled by our exceptional service and brought to life by the fantastic individuals who work for us. We're a diverse employer with a flexible, hybrid working approach, ensuring everyone gets the opportunity to come to work and be the best version of themselves. What you'll be doing: Lead the product design strategy and delivery for one or more digital channels aligned to specific customer segments. You will own the end-to-end user experience, defining the UX vision, standards, and design approach to create intuitive digital journeys that help customers understand, manage, and maximise their pension savings. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure design excellence throughout the product lifecycle, driving high-quality outcomes through effective governance, scalable component-based design practices, evidence-led decision making, and seamless collaboration with engineering teams. Your focus will be on delivering consistent, accessible, and customer-centric experiences that meet both user needs and business objectives. • Own the UX strategy, vision, and experience quality for your aligned channel or channels, or specific customer segment. • Provide day-to-day design direction; set patterns and principles; resolve trade-offs across customer value, feasibility, and governance in discussion with the Product Owner(s). • Oversee contractors and/or agency designers: define briefs, set quality bars, review outputs, and manage delivery to timelines and standards. • Ensure the right components are built and used: champion re-use from the design system, raise proposals for new components when justified by user needs, and prevent divergence that introduces design debt. • Ensure components are built and approved according to the governance process: run/attend design reviews, document decisions, and steward changes from proposal through approval and release. • Ensure designs are properly tested before build: define learning objectives; select methods (usability tests, A/B, accessibility audits); synthesise insights; iterate designs; and log results to the product’s evidence base. What we’re looking for: • Proven experience as a Product Designer/UX Lead owning a product or major product area end-to-end. • Demonstrable oversight of contractors or agency designers, including setting standards and reviewing delivery. • Strong portfolio of component-based product work using a design system (Figma or equivalent). • Hands-on user research and usability testing experience. • Skilled in interaction design, information architecture, content/UI design, and prototyping. • Excellent documentation and developer handover practice. • Accessibility literacy (WCAG), inclusive design techniques. • Comfortable with agile delivery and collaborating with Product, Engineering, QA, Data/Analytics. • Clear communicator; able to present trade-offs to senior stakeholders. What you can expect from us: • Generous pension contributions with an employer contribution of up to 14% • Real living wage • Income protection, critical illness cover & death in service insurance • Employee healthcare • Parental and adoption leave • Learning & development opportunities and study support • Travel season ticket loans • Grab & Go Deli Café • Volunteering days and charity payroll giving • Onsite gym • Ride-to-Work scheme • Social clubs and events Disability Statement People's Partnership is an equal opportunities employer. We believe everyone has the right to be treated fairly, with dignity and respect. We are committed to treating all our people (and all who apply for a role at People's Partnership) equally and enabling them to perform at their best and demonstrate what they have to offer. We are a disability committed employer, please let us know if you need any reasonable adjustments made to our recruitment process (application, selection assessments where relevant, and interview) to enable you to show us the best “you”.
