Cover Supervisors and Cover Teachers Location: Tower Hamlets, London Job Type: Long Term Working Hours: Full-time Start Date: September We are seeking reliable Cover Supervisors and Cover Teachers to join a large and thriving secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced education professionals, aspiring teachers, graduates, and individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive school environment. The successful candidates will play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning by supervising lessons and delivering pre-planned work across a range of subjects during teacher absences. Day-to-day of the role: • Supervise classes across a variety of subjects, ensuring students remain on task and engaged in learning. • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and classroom activities. • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's policies and expectations. • Support students with their learning and encourage positive participation. • Take registers and maintain accurate attendance records. • Report back to teaching staff on lesson outcomes, student progress, and any issues arising. • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote student wellbeing at all times. • Contribute to a positive and productive learning environment across the school. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Experience working with secondary-aged students in a school, education, youth work, coaching, or similar setting is desirable. • Strong classroom management skills and confidence in leading groups of young people. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. • Flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to work across different subjects and year groups. • Good organisational skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively. • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. • For Cover Teacher positions, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualifications are desirable. • For Cover Supervisor positions, a degree or relevant experience working with young people is advantageous. • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
