Job description

The Role This position sits within a technically strong structured finance group advising on matters at the more complex end of the market. The work is intellectually demanding and frequently bespoke, involving layered capital structures, regulatory considerations and cross border elements rather than repeat or commoditised products. Senior associates have a visible role on transactions, working closely with partners, leading key workstreams and engaging directly with clients on detailed structuring issues. The team works collaboratively across finance, tax, regulatory and restructuring disciplines and places a real emphasis on thoughtful structuring and pragmatic execution. As the practice continues to develop its structured finance offering, senior associates are encouraged to take on increasing responsibility, broaden client exposure and play an active role in the evolution of the team. Responsibilities • Advising on complex structured debt financings across a range of asset classes • Acting on securitisations, asset backed transactions and structured funding arrangements • Working on loan portfolio, warehouse and platform financings • Supporting the structuring and negotiation of bespoke debt products and capital structures • Leading transaction workstreams from inception through to completion • Managing and coordinating cross border aspects of transactions • Supervising, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior lawyers • Liaising directly with clients, counterparties, arrangers and internal specialists • Contributing to transaction strategy, risk analysis and issue resolution throughout the deal lifecycle Qualifications and Experience • UK (England & Wales) qualified solicitor • Senior Associate-level experience in structured finance, with a strong focus on structured debt • Background at a leading City or international finance practice • Strong technical understanding of securitisations and structured debt structures • Comfortable advising on transactions with novel or complex features • Experience supervising junior lawyers and managing sophisticated matters • Commercial, detail-driven and a confident communicator with strong drafting skills
