Job description

Senior Reporting Accountant – Real Estate Investment Consultancy We are working with a growing real estate investment and fund consultancy that is looking to appoint a technically strong Senior Reporting Accountant to join its London finance team. This is a broad, high-impact position offering significant autonomy and exposure across statutory reporting, technical accounting, financial controls and process improvement. The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of real estate and fund structures, partnering closely with financial controllers, senior leadership, external auditors and advisers. The role would particularly suit an ACA or CA-qualified accountant with a strong audit background who is looking to move from practice into a commercially focused finance environment, with immediate exposure to complex real estate and fund structures. Key Responsibilities • Lead the review of statutory financial statements across a portfolio of UK and offshore entities. • Ensure compliance with relevant reporting frameworks, including IFRS, FRS 102 and Jersey GAAP. • Coordinate external audits, manage information requests and support the resolution of technical queries. • Review accounting policies, disclosures and significant judgement areas, including investment property valuations, lease accounting and intercompany transactions. • Take ownership of the firm’s ISAE 3402 assurance programme, including coordinating stakeholders, reviewing control findings and overseeing remediation activity. • Act as an internal technical accounting specialist, advising on complex and non-routine transactions. • Prepare technical accounting papers and supporting documentation for audit sign-off. • Monitor changes to financial reporting standards and assess their impact across the business. • Support accounting for acquisitions, disposals, development activity, debt restructurings and new entity onboarding. • Review quarterly management accounts and investor reporting to ensure accuracy and consistency. • Contribute to finance transformation and process improvement projects, with a focus on improving controls, data quality and reporting efficiency. • Support the evaluation and implementation of new finance systems and reporting tools. • Deliver technical training and support the professional development of ACA and ACCA trainees within the business. Candidate Profile The successful candidate will ideally have: • ACA, CA or equivalent professional qualification. • A strong audit background, ideally gained within a Big Four or top-tier accountancy firm. • Experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements under IFRS or FRS 102. • Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to research and document complex accounting matters. • Exposure to ISAE 3402 or wider controls assurance engagements would be highly advantageous. • Experience within real estate, investment funds, asset management or financial services would be beneficial, although strong technical candidates from other sectors will also be considered. • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple entities, deadlines and stakeholders. • A proactive and commercially minded approach, with a genuine interest in improving processes and controls. • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting and financial reporting systems. The Opportunity This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing and technically sophisticated real estate investment consultancy. The successful candidate will benefit from: • Exposure to a growing, multi-fund real estate investment business with a varied and technically interesting portfolio. • Significant autonomy and ownership from day one, with a clear path to taking on broader finance leadership responsibilities. • The opportunity to influence finance processes, systems and controls. • A collaborative and high-calibre finance environment. • A clear route towards broader finance leadership responsibilities.
