Job description

Our client St. Helens MBC is looking for a Senior Social Worker to join their Children with Disabilities team. Job PurposeTo provide high-quality social work services to children and young people with disabilities and their families, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development. The Senior Social Worker manages complex cases, provides mentoring to colleagues, and contributes to service improvement while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance. Key Responsibilities • Manage a caseload of complex children with disabilities cases, including safeguarding, child protection, children in need, looked-after children, and court proceedings. • Undertake statutory assessments under relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Care Act where appropriate during transition planning. • Develop, implement, monitor, and review child-centred care and support plans. • Complete specialist assessments relating to disability, parenting capacity, risk, and family functioning. • Lead multi-agency meetings, child protection conferences, core groups, and professionals' meetings. • Work collaboratively with education, health, housing, and voluntary sector partners. • Ensure the child's voice is central to assessment and planning. • Support children through transitions into adulthood alongside Adult Social Care services. • Prepare high-quality reports for court, Child Protection Conferences, and statutory reviews. • Respond effectively to safeguarding concerns and undertake Section 47 enquiries where required. • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings using electronic recording systems.
