Sheet Metal WorkerLocation: Essex Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Join a Leading Precision Engineering & Aerospace ManufacturerAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality components to the aerospace industry. Working within an AS9100-accredited manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for producing precision sheet metal components to exacting engineering and quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled fabricator who enjoys working with precision materials and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. The RoleWorking from detailed engineering drawings, you will manufacture and fabricate precision sheet metal components, ensuring all work meets stringent aerospace quality requirements while maintaining production targets and health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Interpret complex engineering drawings and aerospace specifications. • Manufacture precision sheet metal components to tight tolerances. • Set up and operate fabrication machinery including: • Brake Press • Promecam Press • Rubber Press • Guillotine • Band Saws • Measure, mark out and prepare materials in accordance with engineering drawings. • Perform bending, forming, stretching and shrinking of aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel components. • Carry out general sheet metal duties including: • Deburring • Drilling • Fly Press operation and setup • Bend allowance calculations • Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards. • Produce components using both hand tools and specialist fabrication equipment. • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to achieve on-time delivery. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing activities. • Follow AS9100/ISO9001 quality procedures and standard operating processes. • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment in line with company Health & Safety policies. Essential ExperienceTo be successful in this role you will have: • Previous experience as a Sheet Metal Worker within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. • Experience working within the aerospace, automotive or another high-precision manufacturing sector. • The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings. • Hands-on experience operating brake presses and other sheet metal fabrication machinery. • Experience working with aluminium, with additional knowledge of mild steel and stainless steel. • Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, forming methods and sheet metal processes. • Experience carrying out inspections using measuring equipment. • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. • A good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Desirable • Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO9001 quality-managed environment. • Aerospace manufacturing experience. • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies. • Experience producing complex fabricated components to tight tolerances.
