Specialist Medical Advisor ME/CFS Long Covid Service Part Time Up to £105,000 depending on experience Kent and Medway (Remote) Join our team We are looking for an experienced Specialist Medical Advisor to provide senior medical leadership and specialist clinical expertise to our ME/CFS and Long Covid Service across Kent and Medway. This is a key advisory role within a multidisciplinary service supporting people with ME/CFS and Long Covid, including patients with complex fatigue syndromes, post-exertional malaise/post-exertional symptom exacerbation, severe and very severe ME/CFS, dysautonomia, PoTS and wider multisystem presentations. You will provide diagnostic leadership, specialist clinical advice and consultant-level input to support safe, evidence-based and personalised care. The role will suit a Consultant Physician or GPwER with recognised expertise in ME/CFS, Long Covid or complex fatigue-related conditions. What you'll do As Specialist Medical Advisor, you will: Provide senior specialist medical advice to the Clinical Director, Clinical Delivery Lead and wider leadership team. Chair and lead the weekly Diagnostic MDT. Provide expert diagnostic opinion for complex or uncertain cases. Support accurate diagnosis of ME/CFS and Long Covid in line with NICE guidance and national best practice. Advise on differential diagnosis and where alternative medical causes of fatigue or multisystem symptoms should be considered. Undertake specialist assessment and management of patients with severe and very severe ME/CFS requiring consultant-level input. Provide clinical advice on complex symptom management, investigations, onward referral and escalation. Support clinicians with complex case reviews, prescribing advice and safe discharge planning. Contribute to clinical governance, audit, pathway development and quality improvement. Develop the clinical capability of the multidisciplinary workforce through supervision, education and case-based learning. Support commissioner discussions and service development where specialist medical input is required. About you You will be a medical doctor working at consultant-level practice, with recognised expertise in ME/CFS, Long Covid or related complex multisystem conditions. You will bring: Full GMC registration with a licence to practise. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or GP Performers List. Experience as a Consultant Physician or GPwER with relevant specialist expertise. Experience diagnosing and managing adults with ME/CFS and Long Covid. Understanding of severe and very severe ME/CFS, post-exertional malaise/post-exertional symptom exacerbation, dysautonomia and PoTS. Strong clinical leadership, diagnostic reasoning and decision-making skills. Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams, clinical governance, audit and pathway development. Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across professional and organisational boundaries. A commitment to safe, evidence-based, person-centred care. Experience supporting regional specialist services, undertaking domiciliary assessment for severe ME/CFS, or contributing to research, publications or specialist networks would be advantageous.
