Waste Management Operative (Temporary) Location: Leicestershire Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week Contract: Temporary Job Purpose We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Waste Management Operative to join a busy waste management site in Leicestershire. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a loading shovel and other site plant and equipment, managing waste materials, loading and unloading vehicles, maintaining site standards, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the facility. Key Responsibilities • Operate a loading shovel and other plant machinery safely and efficiently. • Receive site deliveries and verify electronic and paper-based documentation. • Communicate effectively with drivers, contractors, and site users to ensure safe site operations. • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records, including weighbridge documentation. • Manage, sort, bulk, compact, shred, and process waste materials as required. • Load outgoing vehicles in line with customer and off-taker specifications. • Operate a telehandler and baler where appropriately trained and authorised. • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site cleanliness. • Support site inductions and ensure all visitors and contractors operate safely. • Follow all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management procedures. • Assist with the training and support of new team members. • Contribute ideas to improve recycling rates, customer service, and site performance. • Support the achievement of operational targets and service levels. Requirements • Experience operating a loading shovel or similar heavy plant machinery. • Understanding of health and safety procedures within an industrial, waste, recycling, or manufacturing environment. • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Good communication and record-keeping skills. • Telehandler or other plant operation experience would be advantageous. • Flexible and proactive approach to work. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with plant operation experience looking for a full-time temporary position within a well-established waste management service.
