MB975: Works Manager Location: Cumbria Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week Additional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAP Overview: First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic national construction business who are looking to recruit a Works Manager on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Cumbria depot. Duties and Responsibilities: • Take overall responsibility for the safe delivery and performance of site operations on major projects • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and production targets • Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards • Plan and manage materials, plant, and equipment across the site • Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments • Support project planning activities including work programmes and method statements • Lead toolbox talks, task briefings, and promote safe systems of work • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance • Collaborate with project teams to support delivery, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives • Support investigations and close out of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns Skills and Experience: • Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or major construction projects • Strong knowledge of site operations, project delivery, and construction methods • SMSTS and CSCS certification • Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards • Ability to lead teams and drive performance on site • Experience working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders MB975: Works Manager Location: Cumbria Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week Additional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Company Car/Car Allowance (Depending on job grade), Pension matched up to 8%, 25 days annual leave – plus holiday (opportunity to buy/sell leave will be implemented from January 2026), Private medical insurance, Free 24/7 EAP
