Facilities Manager
Location: Harrow, Middlesex
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 (depending on experience)
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to join a busy property management team overseeing a large commercial portfolio across London and the South East.
This is a hands-on role that will involve managing contractors, overseeing compliance, dealing with utilities, arranging maintenance works, and ensuring vacant properties remain secure and well maintained. You will work closely with the Property Management team and be responsible for ensuring buildings are safe, compliant and operating efficiently.
The portfolio includes a variety of commercial properties, including offices, retail units, industrial estates and mixed-use buildings.
Regular travel will be required, including weekly visits to Brighton and Windsor.
Key Responsibilities
• Managing the day-to-day facilities requirements across a large property portfolio.
• Arranging and overseeing planned and reactive maintenance works.
• Obtaining quotations and appointing contractors.
• Monitoring contractor performance and ensuring works are completed to a high standard.
• Managing Fire Risk Assessments and ensuring all remedial works are completed within agreed timescales.
• Overseeing compliance relating to fire safety, health and safety and other statutory requirements.
• Dealing with utility providers and managing utility-related issues.
• Assisting with the management and budgeting of service charges.
• Carrying out property inspections and identifying maintenance requirements.
• Managing the security and upkeep of vacant properties.
• Arranging security measures where required, including alarms, inspections and boarding-up works.
• Working closely with Property Managers, tenants and external suppliers.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance, compliance and contractor activity.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Previous experience in a Facilities Manager, Estates Manager or similar position.
• Experience working within commercial property.
• A good understanding of health and safety and property compliance requirements.
• Experience dealing with Fire Risk Assessments and remedial works.
• Strong contractor management experience.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• A practical and proactive approach to problem solving.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
• IOSH, NEBOSH or other relevant Health & Safety qualification.
• Experience of service charge budgets.
• Experience managing multi-let commercial properties.
• Knowledge of vacant property management and security.
