Job description

Learning Mentor - WokinghamLocation: Wokingham Hours: 11 hours per week Duration: September 2026 to the end of the 2026/27 academic year Working arrangement: In-person, community-based support. This is not an online role. Quantum Scholars is looking for a reliable, patient and supportive Learning Mentor to work with three young men in Wokingham. The role will involve helping them engage positively in their local community while also providing encouragement and practical support with academic work. The successful candidate will be confident building positive professional relationships and adapting their approach to meet each young person's individual needs. This role would suit someone with experience in mentoring, education, youth work, learning support or a similar setting. The role may involve • Supporting the young men to access activities and opportunities within the community • Providing one-to-one or small-group support with academic work • Helping to build confidence, independence and positive routines • Encouraging engagement with learning and personal development • Supporting communication, organisation and social skills • Working collaboratively with families, education professionals and other relevant services • Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries • Recording progress and sharing relevant updates with the appropriate professionals • Following all safeguarding, health and safety, and risk-assessment procedures Essential requirements • Experience supporting young people in education, mentoring, youth work, community work or a related setting • A calm, patient and consistent approach • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • Confidence working independently in community settings • The ability to support academic learning in an accessible and encouraging way • A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory professional references • You must have the right to work in the UK.
