Trainee Litigation Solicitor • Annual Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 • Location: Newport, South Wales • Job Type: Full-time We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Trainee Litigation Solicitor to join our growing legal team in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified legal professional or trainee nearing qualification to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of contentious matters while working alongside experienced solicitors. Day-to-day of the role: • Assist solicitors with the management of civil litigation matters from inception through to resolution. • Draft legal documents, correspondence, witness statements, court applications, and pleadings. • Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries. • Liaise with clients, counsel, courts, experts, and other third parties. • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines. • Attend client meetings, court hearings, mediations, and conferences where appropriate. • Support dispute resolution processes, including negotiation and settlement discussions. • Assist with case preparation for trial. • Ensure compliance with SRA regulations, firm policies, and professional standards. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Essential: • Law degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification. • Completion of the LPC, SQE, or currently undertaking the relevant qualification route. • Strong interest in litigation and dispute resolution. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. • Professional and client-focused approach. • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications. • Desirable: • Previous experience within a litigation department (paralegal, legal assistant, or placement experience). • Experience dealing with civil litigation matters. • Knowledge of court procedures and case management systems. • Full UK driving licence.
