School Caretaker

Your new company A busy and welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is looking for an Interim Caretaker to join their site team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented environment where students can thrive and staff can focus on delivering outstanding education. Your new role Are you the person everyone calls when something needs fixing? As Interim Caretaker, you'll be the go-to person for keeping the school site safe, secure, and running smoothly. From unlocking the gates in the morning to tackling maintenance issues throughout the day, you'll be a key part of the school's daily operations. Your duties will include: Opening and securing the school site. Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance. Setting up rooms for meetings, assemblies, exams, and events. Conducting health and safety checks. Monitoring site security and visitor access. Managing deliveries and contractor visits. Supporting compliance and site inspections. Assisting with the overall upkeep of the school premises. What you will need to succeed We're looking for someone who is reliable, practical, and ready to roll up their sleeves.You will ideally have: Previous caretaker, maintenance, facilities, estates, or site management experience. Basic DIY and repair skills. Knowledge of health and safety procedures. The ability to work independently and prioritise workload. A proactive attitude and strong work ethic. Good communication and organisational skills. A commitment to safeguarding and site security. The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy school environment. We will need to be able to obtain references to cover the last 2 years as a minimum and you will need to be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check if you don't already have a DBS on the update service What you'll get in return As well as receiving a competitive rate of pay, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in an outstanding school.
